Subtitles delay in vlc media player

Tools you gonna need:
Vlc media player (free download)
Movie
Subtitles
You got yourself wrong subtitles and now you want to adjust timing. Vlc media player have some great options for doing that. In this tutorial I'm gonna show you how to delay subtitle.

Open your movie:
Media > Open file and choose location
Your movie begin to play, just pause it for second.
Open subtitle:
Video > Subtitles track > Load file...
Ok we are done, now play the movie. Now we have to wait to see first line of subtitle or to hear first voice. I got here 1408 movie with John Cusack and Samuel L. Jackson, first line that was said is 'Hi', now stop the movie and look at time.

It was said at 1:47, write it down. Now we have to wait to see when subtitle gonna show. Play the movie. It showed at 2:06. Now I need to move subtitle backwards for 19 seconds.
Press this little button, you gonna get new window.

Go to Synchronization:
Advance of subtitles over video > I have to write -19.000s and press enter.
Try the movie again and adjust it if necessary.

If you want to burn movie with subtitles on dvd you will need to adjust subtitle again and then burn it. You can adjust it with subtitle workshop and burn it with convertxtodvd. Read this tutorials:

I have to move subtitles 496 seconds backwards (first voice: 1:25, first subtitle: 9:41) and that tool wont let me move so much! what I have to do? please anyone answer :)

Wont fcking work for me, it's like the subs are moving at a faster pace than the audio/picture, at first it's 2 secs in front and I fix it. A minute later it's still like 6 seconds infront!

it depends on the sub file people sometimes just a small adjustment is all you need sometimes the subs have varying times..then your lost..better off finding a better sub file or not using at all..

Anonymous said...

G and H will do bros...

Anonymous said...

Excuse me but how do save that subtitle timing. Because when I closed the video and opened it again, I had to adjust the timing again

for some reason, when i did this, i "hastened" the subtitles, the movie now freezes and will not play.
